Sealants

We strongly suggest this procedure for all our early adolescent patients. Not only will it significantly reduce and prevent tooth damage and decay, it may be a tremendous savings in time, money, and oral discomfort. Sealants are clear plastic coatings that can be placed on the teeth’s surfaces through a chemical/mechanical bonding procedure. It is a totally non-invasive, anesthesia-free process that remains entirely painless. Here are the benefits to having sealants:

• Will enshroud and protect the tooth for 3-20 years (depending on the tooth, patient’s eating habits, and type of sealant)



• Will help to prevent cavity formation when used in conjunction with daily flossing and brushing



• If regularly repaired, will drastically reduce decay on biting surfaces (up to 95 percent over a period of 10 years).

Please keep in mind that the amazing benefits of sealants will be most effective with good dental hygiene. In addition to the application of sealants, a topical fluoride treatment is also applied as a necessary preventative aid for your child’s sparkling smile and great oral health.
