Invisalign® Orthodontic Braces

Treatment time typically ranges between six months to a year and a half. The result is a beautiful, straight smile you’ll want to share with confidence.

Invisalign smileLet’s take it as a given – no one wants to wear braces. Of course, no one wants crooked teeth, either, so there’s often been a trade-off – people have traditionally worn metal braces for lengthy periods of time in exchange for a beautiful smile further along. Maybe.

One of the problems with traditional metal braces is that they can trap food and harmful bacteria, and even the most rigorous cleaning often doesn’t remove the harmful elements. So the beautiful smile lasts for a while, and then decay sets in on the front of the teeth where it’s most visible and difficult to correct.

A Better Way

With Invisalign® invisible braces, wearers can actually remove the braces so that they can brush and floss thoroughly – nothing gets trapped. There are no bars, brackets and bands. Just invisible plastic braces that gradually apply teeth-straightening pressure, and can be removed when needed.

Invisalign can treat minor to severe misalignment as well as spacing, crowding, underbites and overbites. While traditional metal braces effectively work to straighten a crooked smile, Invisalign’s clear plastic aligners produce the same effects invisibly and in less time, making it the perfect alternative for teens and adults.

No Embarrassment

If you’re a parent whose teen needs orthodontic correction, you may be thinking back to your teen years – you know, that period in your life when you refused to smile because you couldn’t bear the taunts of “Hey, metal mouth!” Understandably, you don’t want to put your child through that, and now you don’t have to. With Invisalign®, the braces are a secret between you, your child, and his or her orthodontist.

For that matter, if your own teeth have been neglected and you’ve decided it’s time to do something, you can feel confident in wearing Invisalign® invisible braces to the office without having your co-workers ask you if you’ve just come from detention or you’re on your way to cheerleading practice.

The Procedure

Before being fitted with Invisalign® invisible braces, your dentist or orthodontist will take impressions of your bite. Then, 3-D imaging software will be used to create a number of clear retainers that work in a series. The first will fit comfortably over your teeth in their current alignment, and the final retainers will represent the final desired alignment. There will be several retainers created in between the first and the last, and you’ll regularly remove and replace your retainers according to the stage of your treatment. This way, your teeth are straightened gently and gradually, with no discomfort. Usually, you can expect to go through anywhere from eighteen to thirty aligning retainers.

Candidates for Invisalign®

Anyone at all who wants to correct their teeth but doesn’t want to wear unsightly metal braces is a good candidate for Invisalign®. So, if you’ve been putting off getting orthodontic treatment because you’re worried that braces might compromise your dental health, or adversely affect your appearance, put your worries to rest. With Invisalign®, no one will even know that you’re being treated. You can care for your teeth the same way you always have, and you won’t have to worry about the discomfort of traditional metal braces.

At Tribeca Smiles, we’ll be happy to meet with you and talk about how Invisalign® invisible braces can help you to achieve the smile you’ve always wanted.
